Bold. And, right on target, Ryan. I take it one step further and refuse to read listicles (when I know they're listicles).
From a writer's perspective, listicles seem to be a cop-out, an admission that we can't write something that will hold our reader's attention throughout. It's as if we need the reassurance of lots of eyes on our articles, rather than the eyes of those who actually are interested in what we have to say.
Plus, although the trend may be fading, listicles have been the teacher's pet for awhile on Medium and other writer's sites. I seem to push back at popular trends and fads when deciding what to write about and the style in which to do it (ask any of the editors from the publications in which I write).
So—good on you! Thanks for saying what many of us have been thinking for a long time! And you say it so well, anyway. Keep up the good work!
